Goodspeed Opera House Announces 2009 Season

Goodspeed Musicals has announced its 2009 season at the historic Goodspeed Opera House, which will feature three classic tuners.

The season will begin with the toe-tapping Broadway song and dance extravaganza 42nd Street (April 17-June 28), featuring music by Harry Warren, lyrics by Al Dubin, and book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble. Ray Roderick will direct, with choreography by Rick Conant.

Next up will be the Lerner & Loewe musical Camelot (July 10-September 19), which tells the tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, and is adapted from the T.H. White novel The Once and Future King. Rob Ruggiero will direct.

The season will conclude with the musical comedy, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (September 25-November 29), with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart. Ted Pappas is set to direct and choreograph.
