Francesca Choy-Kee, Michael Cullen, Laura Esterman et al. Set for Long Wharf’s Agnes Under the Big Top

Eshan Bay, Francesca Choy-Kee, Michael Cullen, Laura Esterman, Sam Ghosh, and Gergana Mellin will be featured in the Long Wharf Theatre’s world premiere production of Agnes Under the Big Top, written by Aditi Brennan Kapil. Eric Ting will direct the play, which runs March 2-April 3, with an opening on March 9.

In the play, Agnes (Choy-Kee), a Liberian immigrant, discovers she is dying of cancer. This sets in motion a series of events pitting her elderly rheumatoid employer, Ella (Esterman), on a collision course with a subway train driven by a former Bulgarian ringmaster. Along the way, Agnes encounters characters that have lived alongside her, unnoticed, for years. In allowing them to affect her, and in affecting them in return, she rediscovers her lost place in the world.
