A Sign of the Times begins performances tonight at Goodspeed Musicals.

The new jukebox musical is the story of Cindy, a twentysomething whose dreams are bigger than her Midwestern hometown will allow. Set against the backdrop of New York City in the 1960s — women's liberation, the civil rights movement, and protests of the Vietnam war — Cindy searches for her place in the world. A Sign of the Times uses the chart-topping hits of the 1960s to celebrate friendship, love, and discovering one's sense of self.

Gabriel Barre (Amazing Grace) directs from a story created by Richard Robin and book by Bruce Vilanch. Ephie Aardema (The Bridges of Madison County) stars as Cindy alongside Nick Bailey (Casa Valentina), Bryan Fenkart (Memphis), Robert Lenzi (Tuck Everlasting), and Crystal Lucas-Perry (Little Children Dream of God). Rounding out the ensemble are Lauren Boyd, Lauren Chapman, Melessie Clark, Drew Franklin, Jeremy Gaston, Alexandra Matteo, Keven Quillon, Kevin Santos, Dave Schoonover, and Alet Taylor.

The production team includes JoAnn M. Hunter (choreography), Paul Tate dePoo III (set design), Jennifer Caprio (costume design), Ken Billington (lighting design), Benjamin Pearcy (projection design), Jay Hilton (sound design), Rick Fox (music direction), and Joseph Church (music supervision).

Performances run through September 4.
