Blake Jenner Joins Musical Adaptation of Cyrano at Goodspeed

Peter Dinklage and Haley Bennett will lead the production, opening this summer.

Goodspeed Musicals has announced complete casting for its upcoming production of Cyrano, previously announced to star Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) in the title tole opposite Haley Bennett (Thank You for Your Service) as Roxanne. The new musical is adapted and directed by Erica Schmidt in collaboration with members of the Grammy Award-winning indie alternative band the National. Performances will run from August 3-September 2 at the Terris Theatre.

Joining Dinklage and Bennett in the cast will be Blake Jenner (Christian), Tom Riis Farrell (Ragueneau, Cadet), Damon J. Gillespie (LeBret), Patrick Kerr (Jodelet, Renaudot, Cadet), Laith Nakli (DeGuiche), Gayle Samuels (Chaperone, Mother Marthe), Claire Saunders (Orange Girl, Sister Claire), and Charlie Thurston (Montgomery, Cadet).

Cyrano features music by Aaron and Bryce Dessner of the National, with lyrics by Matt Berninger of the National and Carin Besser. The creative team also includes Jeff and Rick Kuperman (choreography), Christine Jones and Amy Rubin (scenic design), Andrea Lauer (costume design), Jeff Croiter (lighting design), Jay Hilton (sound design), and Olivier Manchon (music supervision).

Inspired by Edmond Rostand's classic play Cyrano de Bergerac, the musical tells the story of a proud and impassioned poet who ghostwrites love letters in order to woo his true love, Roxanne, on behalf of another.
