Victoria Clark, George Hearn, Patti LuPone, Kelli O’Hara, David Hyde Pierce, Paolo Szot Set for Ravinia Festival

The 2009 Ravinia Festival has announced selections from its season lineup.

As previously announced, the season will open on June 5 with George Hearn, Sylvia McNair, and Rod Gilfry in a staged concert presentation of Lerner and Loewe’s Camelot, directed by Marc Robin and featuring Erich Kunzel and the Ravinia Festival Orchestra.

On August 8, Patti LuPone will star in an evening devoted to the music of Kurt Weill, alongside Hudson Shad and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra; on August 16, Victoria Clark and David Hyde Pierce will join music director Rob Fisher in a salute to Cole Porter; and on September 6, Kelli O’Hara and Paolo Szot will join music director Ted Sperling and the Ravinia Festival Orchestra in a tribute to Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein.

Other highlights include a live performance of Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion (June 20); a presentation of Kurt Weill’s Mahagonny-Songspiel paired with Stravinsky’s A Soldier’s Story starring Amari Cheaton, Finn Wittrock, and Ben Rappaport (August 4); Dmitri Hvorostvsky in a performance of Verdi’s Rigoletto (August 15); and Bill T. Jones’ full-length dance piece Fondly Do We Hope… Fervently We Do Pray (September 17 and 19).
