Translations of Classics from Curt Columbus and David Harrower Part of Strawdog’s 2009-2010 Season

Classic plays and a contemporary work are on tap for 2009-2010 at Chicago’s Strawdog Theatre Company. The company’s season begins with Matt Pepper’s examination of the events at the Battle of Agincourt, St. Crispin’s Day (September 26 – October 21).

In the new year, Strawdog will produce Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya (February 20 – March 27). Directed by Kimberly Senior, who staged Chekhov’s Three Sisters and Cherry Orchard for Strawdog, the production will feature a translation from Curt Columbus. The company’s season will conclude with Bertolt Brecht’s The Good Soul of Szechuan (April 24 – May 29). This production, staged by Shade Murray, will use a translation by David Harrower, who wrote Blackbird.
