Alana Arenas, K. Todd Freeman, Ora Jones, Phillip James Brannon, Rodrick Covington, Glenn Davis, Jeff Parker, Tamberla Perry, and Jacqueline William will be featured in Steppenwolf Theatre Company’s production of Tarell Alvin McCraney’s The Brother/Sister Plays, to be presented January 21-May 23. Tina Landau will direct.

This trilogy of plays will be presented in repertory, with In the Red and Brown Water on one evening, in alternation with the two shorter plays The Brothers Size and Marcus; Or the Secret of Sweet on the other. Influenced by Afro-Caribbean folklore, the plays explore the struggles that arise when the quest for self identity is at odds with community values.

The design team will include James Schuette (sets), Scott Zielinski (lights), and Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen (sound and composition). Landau is currently directing In the Red and Brown Water for the Public Theater’s staging of the trilogy in New York City.
