Mike Nussbaum to Join Cast of Steppenwolf’s The Tempest

Mike Nussbaum will succeed Lois Smith in the role of Gonzalo in Steppenwolf Theatre’s production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest, which is currently running through May 31. Tina Landau directs.

Smith, who will play her final performance on May 10, is leaving the run in order to to join the cast of Horton Foote’s Dividing the Estate at Hartford Stage. Nussbaum’s first performance will be May 12.

The production stars Frank Galati as Prospero, with the cast also including Alana Arenas (Miranda), K. Todd Freeman (Caliban), Stephen Louis Grush (Ferdinand), Jon Michael Hill (Ariel), Tim Hopper (Trinculo), James Vincent Meredith (Antonio), Yasen Peyankov (Stephano), Craig Spidle (Alonso), and Alan Wilder (Sebastian). The ensemble will also feature Eric James Casady, Miles Fletcher, and Emma Rosenthal.
