Tony- and Emmy Award-winning actor John Mahoney will be among the actors participating in the previously reported encore benefit performance of Belarus Free Theatre’s production of Vladimir Shcherban’s Being Harold Pinter, to be held Upstairs at Chicago Shakespeare on February 21, at 7:30pm.

The play, directed by Shcherban, juxtaposes transcripts from Belarusian political prisoners with excerpts from Harold Pinter’s plays, including The Homecoming, Ashes to Ashes, and Old Times, as well as his other writing, such as his Nobel Prize speech. The work is presented in Belarusian and Russian with English supertitles.

Additional participants for the benefit will include Chicago-based actors Karen Aldridge, Phillip James Brannon, Joseph Foronda, Ora Jones, Sandra Marquez, and Edward F. Torres. Two additional Chicago actors are still to be announced.

The Chicago engagement was co-presented by Goodman Theatre, the League of Chicago Theatres and Chicago Shakespeare Theater. The Chicago performances follow the company’s run at New York City’s Under the Radar Festival and a period of hiding for the group in their homeland. Belarus Free Theatre will next travel to China for a March 2-6 engagement of Being Harold Pinter and A Flower for Pina Bausch at the Hong Kong Arts Festival.

Benefit tickets are $50 for the performance and $100 for the performance and post-show reception. To purchase, call 312-595-5600.
