Dennehy, Gugino, McGiver, Schreiber, Sherman Set for Goodman’s Desire Under the Elms

Boris McGiver and Daniel Stewart Sherman will join previously announced stars Brian Dennehy, Carla Gugino, and Pablo Schreiber in Eugene O’Neill’s classic drama Desire Under the Elms at the Goodman Theatre, January 17-February 22.

The production, which is part of the theater’s two-month-long Eugene O’Neill Festival, will be directed by Robert Falls, the Goodman’s artistic director. The creative team will include Walt Spangler (sets), Ana Kuzmanic (costumes), Michael Philippi (lighting), and Richard Woodbury (original music and set design).

Other offerings in the festival include Toneelgroeep Amsterdam’s version of Mourning Becomes Electra (in Dutch, with English supertitles); the Comphania Triptal of Brazil presentation three O’Neill one-acts Bound East for Cardiff, In the Zone, and The Long Voyage Home, all in Portugese; the Wooster Group’s 60-minute version of The Emperor Jones, directed by Elizabeth LeCompte and starring Kate Valk, Ari Fliakos, and Scott Shepherd; and the Hyprocrites’ production of The Hairy Ape and the Neo-Futurists’ production of Strange Interlude.
