Carrie Fisher’s Wishful Drinking to Play Chicago in October

Broadway in Chicago will present Carrie Fisher’s one-woman show Wishful Drinking at the Bank of America Theatre, October 4-16.

In the piece, Fisher shares stories of her childhood with her entertainer parents, Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher and anecdotes about her life in Hollywood, including her years playing Princess Leia in the Star Wars movies. Fisher received Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle nominations for her performance in the Broadway production of the show.

In addition to the stage version of the piece, Fisher has also published it as a memoir and an HBO documentary special based on Wishful Drinking was taped at the South Orange Performing Arts Center in New Jersey in June of 2010. It features portions of her stage show, archival footage and interviews with friends and family and is currently nominated for a 2011 Emmy Award.
