Barbara Cook will receive the Sarah Siddons Society Award at the Sarah Siddons Society’s 60th anniversary gala, to be held on Monday, July 16 at 6:30pm at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Chicago. The gala will also honor Mike Nussbaum as Chicago’s Leading Actor.

Cook won a Tony Award for The Music Man, and her numerous Broadway shows include Plain and Fancy, Flahooley, She Loves Me, and Sondheim on Sondheim.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel recently proclaimed July 16 2012, the day of the Gala, as “Barbara Cook Day” throughout the City of Chicago. Several of Chicago’s music theatre leading men will be on hand to salute Cook, and members of the Stanley Paul Orchestra will provide music for the evening.
