Cyndi Lauper, the show's Tony-winning composer, welcomed the audience to the event, which featured original stars Billy Porter, Stark Sands, and Annaleigh Ashford, as well as past and current leading cast members J. Harrison Ghee, Todrick Hall, Alan Mingo Jr., Killian Donnelly, Andy Kelso, Jeanna de Waal, and original ensemble members Paul Canaan, Nathan Peck, Charlie Sutton, and Joey Taranto. Kinky Boots director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell and musical director Will Van Dyke will direct.
Inspired by the 2005 British film of the same title, Kinky Boots features a Tony-winning score by Cyndi Lauper and a book by Harvey Fierstein. The musical tells the story of Charlie Price, the owner of a failing shoe factory who realizes that a sassy drag queen named Lola has the key to the business' success.
