Flashback Friday: Get In the Presidents' Day Mood With Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson

Jackson throws some low blows at America’s early Presidents in “Rock Star.”

In the song "Rock Star" from the 2010 Broadway musical Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, a punk-rock version of America's seventh president (a governor at this point in the show) takes some snide shots at a few of his predecessors. "John Adams tried to be an American Idol," he sings, "Jefferson tried to be a rock star." While the song might not be the most touching of patriotic tunes, its references take on new relevance in the era of Hamilton. And if you're feeling a little irreverent come Monday, this may be the anthem for you.
