On Tuesday, October 27, the Broadway production of
RAIN – A Tribute to The Beatles On Broadway opened at the
Neil Simon Theatre.
Rain offers a full range of The Beatles’ discography live onstage, including songs that the group recorded in the studio but never performed for an audience. The concert aims to recapture The Beatles in all of the phases, including their historic concert at Shea Stadium, their work in the late 60s, and their long-haired hippie, hard-rocking rooftop days. The multimedia production offers a fusion of historical footage and live camera-work.
The company features the creators of the production, who are also its original band: Joey Curatolo (vocals, bass, guitar, piano), Joe Bithorn (vocals, lead guitar, guitar synthesizer), Ralph Castelli (vocals, drums, percussion), Steve Landes (vocals, guitar, piano, harmonica), and Mark Lewis (keyboards, percussion).
Opening night guests included Broadway stars Chita Rivera and Andre De Shields, recording artist Chris Brown, record producer and promoter Sid Bernstein, and Mai Pang, who was romantically involved with John Lennon.
