Jimmy Award Winner Reneé Rapp to Make Broadway Debut in Mean Girls

Rapp will play Regina George, fully taking over from Taylor Louderman starting in September.

Mean Girls has announced that Reneé Rapp, winner of the Best Actress Award at the 2018 National High School Musical Theatre Awards, or Jimmy Awards, will take over the role of Regina George starting Tuesday, September 10, with Taylor Louderman playing her final performance on Sunday, September 8. Rapp will make her Broadway debut in the role June 7-26 during Louderman's brief leave of absence.

Now running at the August Wilson Theatre, Mean Girls features a book by nine-time Emmy Award winner Tina Fey, based on her screenplay for the film; music by three-time Emmy Award winner Jeff Richmond; and lyrics by two-time Tony Award nominee Nell Benjamin. Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs.

The cast currently stars Erika Henningsen as Cady Heron; Louderman as Regina George; Krystina Alabado as Gretchen Wieners; Kate Rockwell as Karen Smith; Grey Henson as Damian Hubbard; Barrett Wilbert Weed as Janis Sarkisian; Kyle Selig as Aaron Samuels; Jennifer Simard as Mrs. Heron, Ms. Norbury, and Mrs. George; Cheech Manohar as Kevin Gnapoor; and Rick Younger as Mr. Duvall.
