Bret Shuford to Temporarily Replace Jeremy Kushnier in Cirque du Soleil's Paramour

Shuford will play A.J. Golden while Kushnier takes a two-week hiatus to film a new feature.

Jeremy Kushnier, who plays A.J. Golden in Cirque du Soleil's Cirque du Soleil Paramour on Broadway, will take a two-week hiatus from the show from July 10-24. Assuming the role for the two weeks will be cast-member Bret Shuford.

During his break from Paramour, Kushnier will film a new feature titled The Idea of Manhood, created by the actor's brother, writer/director Serge Kushnier. The movie follows two old friends who unexpectedly spend a day together and end up debating each other's shortcomings.

Staged by French director Philippe Decouflé, Paramour is a blend of "the best of Broadway with Cirque du Soleil's signature style." The musical, which opened May 25 at the Lyric Theatre is set in Golden Age Hollywood, where a young poet is forced to choose between love and art.

Paramour also stars Ruby Lewis, Ryan Vona, Sarah Meahl, Kat Cunning, Tom Ammirati, Andrew Atherton, Kevin Atherton, Chelsey Arce, Lee Brearley, Yanelis Brooks, Samuel William Charlton, Martin Charrat, Nate Cooper, Myriam Deraiche, Kyle Driggs, Jeremias Faganel, Amber Brooke Fulljames, Steven Trumon Gray, Tomasz Jadach, Rafal Kaszubowski, Justin Keats, Reed Kelly, Denis Kibenko, Joe McAdam, Raven McRae, Amber J. Merrick, Sheridan Mouawad, Amber Pickens, Justin Prescott, Fletcher Blair Sanchez, Matthieu Sennacherib, Blakely Slaybaugh, Sam Softich, Amiel Soicher, Amber van Wijk, Bruce Weber, Tomasz Wilkosz, and Zhengqi Xia (Da Qi).
