Brandy Norwood (aka "Brandy") celebrated her official opening night in Chicago on April 30 at the Ambassador Theatre. The Grammy-winning pop singer makes her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart for a limited eight-week run, performing opposite Chicago veteran Amra-Faye Wright, who plays Velma Kelly.

Featuring classic tunes by John Kander and Fred Ebb, Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media, and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to transform her crime into a barrage of sensational headlines.

The current revival production opened November 14, 1996, at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. In addition to Norwood and Wright, the cast stars Raymond Bokhour (Amos Hart), John Dossett (Billy Flynn), and NaTasha Yvette Williams (Matron Mama Morton).

Brandy will continue in the cast of Chicago through June 21. Check out TheaterMania's photos of her debut curtain call below.
