Benj Pasek and Justin Paul's musical Dogfight starts its run tonight at SpeakEasy Stage Company.

Based on the Warner Bros. film, the show takes place on November 21, 1963. Three young Marines are about to celebrate their final boys’ night out before getting sent to a small but growing conflict in southeast Asia. During a night of debauchery, partying, and more than a little trouble, Corporal Eddie Birdlace meets Rose. An awkward and idealistic waitress, Rose ends up at the center of a cruel bet that the three men made. As Eddie spends more time with her, however, she begins to rewrite the rules of the game and teaches him the power of love and compassion.

The musical is directed by Paul Daigneault and features music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan Hansen) and book by Peter Duchan. The cast includes Drew Arisco as Bernstein, McCaela Donovan as Marcy/Peggy/Hippie, Jordan J. Ford as Eddie Birdlace, Dave Heard as Fector, Liliane Klein as Mama/Suzette/Hippie, Alejandra M. Parrilla as Rose Fenny, Edward Rubenacker as Gibbs/Stevens’ Party Date, Jenna Lea Scott as Ruth Two Bears/Librarian/Chippy/Hippie, Jared Troilo as Boland, Patrick Varner as Lounge Singer/Pete/Sergeant/Praying Drag Queen/Dinner Patron/Waiter/Big Tony, and Dylan James Whelan as Stevens.

The creative team includes Larry Sousa (choreography), Jose Delgado (musical direction), Cristina Todesco (set design), Elisabetta Polito (costume design), Jeff Adelberg (lighting design), David Reiffel (sound design), and Dawn Schall Saglio (stage manager).

Performances will run through June 4.
