Anthony Rapp to Bring Without You to Boston’s Modern Theatre at Suffolk University

Anthony Rapp will bring his one-man show Without You to Boston’s Modern Theatre at Suffolk University from June 19 to 24 prior to its run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and London’s Menier Chocolate Factory.

Based on his popular memoir of the same title, the show looks at Rapp’s experiences working on the musical Rent, the death of its creator, Jonathan Larson, and Rapp’s relationship with his mother, who was fighting cancer. Backed by a five-piece band, the piece uses a mix of original music and songs by Larson and the band R.E.M.

As previously reported, Without You will run from August 1-26 at the E4 Cow Barn, Udderbelly Bristo Square, followed by a run at the Menier from August 29-September 15.

The production is directed by Steve Maler, with scenic design by David Korins, lighting design by Justin Townsend, sound design by Gareth Owen, musical direction by Dan Weiss, and additional arrangements by Tom Kitt.
