Anna Deavere Smith, Tennessee Williams, and More Set for the A.R.T.'s 2016-17 Season

American Repertory Theater at Harvard University has announced the lineup for its 2016-17 season.
The season opens in August with Notes From the Field: Doing Time in Education, created, written, and performed by Anna Deavere Smith (Nurse Jackie).
Next will be Sean O'Casey's classic drama The Plough and the Stars, followed by Fingersmith, a Victorian crime thriller based on the 2002 novel by Sarah Waters, adapted by Alexa Junge, and directed by Bill Rauch.
Opening in January 2017 will be Trans Scripts, Part I: The Women, a new play drawn from candid interviews with transgender women, written by Paul Lucas and directed by Jo Bonney. A new production of Tennessee Williams’ The Night of the Iguana will follow in February, with direction by Michael Wilson.
Closing out the season will be Arrabal, a dance theater piece about Argentina's Disappeared. The production, directed and co-choreographed by Sergio Trujillo, will feature a book by John Weidman and original music by Academy Award winner Gustavo Santaolalla. Performances will begin in May 2017.
