Mark St. Germain’s The Best of Enemies, which recently wrapped up a summer run at Barrington Stage, will play a return engagement at the BSC Mainstage, October 5-16, with an opening on October 8. The production replaces Lord of the Flies, with that show now to be presented in October 2012.

Inspired by the best-selling book by Osha Gray Davidson, The Best of Enemies is a true story about the relationship between C.P. Ellis (a Grand Cyclops of the KKK) and Ann Atwater (an African-American civil rights activist) during the desegregation of the Durham, NC schools in 1971.

Julianne Boyd will once again direct the play, with returning cast members including John Bedford Lloyd as C. P. Ellis, Aisha Hinds as Ann Atwater, and Susan Wands as Mary Ellis. Casting for the role of Bill Riddick will be announced at a later date.

The production is designed by David M. Barber (sets), Scott Pinkney (lights), Kristina Lucka (costumes), and Brad Berridge (sound).
