Bill T. Jones to Receive Jacob’s Pillow Award at June 19 Gala

Tony Award winner Bill T. Jones will receive the Jacob’s Pillow Festival annual dance award at the organization’s gala in Lee on Saturday, June 19. Jones will be on hand to accept the award, which carries a $25,000 prize

The evening includes a solo performance of “The Dying Swan” by beloved ballet star Nina Ananiashvili; Monica Bill Barnes & Company in witty new work with music by James Brown; a whirlwind solo by Kyle Abraham, a scintillating duet by Camille A. Brown; and a world premiere created by acclaimed choreographer Karole Armitage for the dancers of the Ballet Program of The School at Jacob’s Pillow.

Jones is currently a two-time Tony Award nominee as director and choreographer of the Broadway musical Fela! and won the Tony for his work on Spring Awakening. He is also the artistic director of Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, which will perform at Jacob’s Pillow, July 21-25.
