Laura Michelle Kelly and More Join World Premiere of The Royal Family of Broadway

Barrington Stage Company announces initial casting for its 2018 season.

Barrington Stage Company has announced initial casting for its 2018 summer season.

The season will begin with Typhoid Mary (May 23-June 16), starring Miles G. Jackson (BSC's Tribes) as Father Michael McKuen, Tasha Lawrence (Pipeline) as Mary Mallon, Kevin O'Rourke (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof) as Dr. William Mills, and Keri Safran (BSC's 10×10 New Play Festival) as Dr. Ann Saltzer. Formerly titled A Plague of Angels and revised for BSC, Typhoid Mary is written by Mark St. Germain (Freud's Last Session) and directed by Matthew Penn.

The world premiere of The Royal Family of Broadway (June 7-July 7) will star Arnie Burton (Machinal) as Bert, Kathy Fitzgerald (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) as Kitty Dean, Alan H. Green (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) as Gil, Tony Award winner Harriet Harris (Thoroughly Modern Millie) as Fanny, Oliver Award winner Laura Michelle Kelly (Finding Neverland) as Julie, Hayley Podschun (Hello, Dolly!) as Gwen, AJ Shively (Bright Star) as Perry, Tony Award nominee Will Swenson (Waitress) as Tony, and Chip Zien (Falsettos) as Oscar. The ensemble will include Holly Ann Butler, Michelle Carter, Tim Fuchs, Tyler Johnson-Campion, Tyler Matthew Roberts, and Jake Vacanti. Directed by John Rando, The Royal Family of Broadway will feature a book by Tony Award winner Rachel Sheinkin, music and lyrics by Tony Award winner William Finn, and choreography by Tony nominee Joshua Bergasse. The story is based on the original play by George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber, and an original adaptation by Richard Greenberg.

The cast of The Cake (June 21-July 15) will include Nemuna Ceesay (Broad City) as Macy, Douglas Rees (BSC's 10×10 Play Festival) as Tim, Debra Jo Rupp (BSC's All the Way) as Della, and Virginia Vale (South Coast Rep's A Doll's House, Part 2) as Jen. The Cake is written by Bekah Brunstetter and directed by Jennifer Chambers.

Lucas Hnath's Tony-nominated play A Doll's House, Part 2 (July 12-28) will star Ashley Bufkin (Shakespeare's Globe's Julius Caesar) as Emmy, Tony Award winner Shuler Hensley (Young Frankenstein) as Torvald, Laila Robins (Deception) as Nora, and Mary Stout (Jane Eyre) as Anne Marie. Joe Calarco will direct.

The 2018 BSC season will also include productions of West Side Story, The Chinese Lady, Well-Intentioned White People, The Glass Menagerie, and Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach.
