ZACH Theatre Announces 2012-2013 Season

ZACH Theatre has announced the productions set for its 2012-2013 season.

Opening the season will be a Dave Steakley directed production of Terrence McNally, Lynn Ahrens, and Stephen Flaherty’s Ragtime (October 17-November 18), a musical based on E.L. Doctorow’s novel about the forging of a nation that all people could call home. The season will continue with the Irving Berlin musical White Christmas (December 5-30), based on the film written by Norman Krasna, Norman Panama, and Melvin Frank, and featuring a book by David Ives and Paul Blake.

Kicking off the new year, Dave Steakley will direct Moises Kaufman’s 33 Variations (January 23-February 17). Concert pianist Anton Nel will star in this play about a mother coming to terms with her daughter and Beethoven coming to terms with his genius. In the spring, Steven Dietz will direct his play about two kids on the road just behind Jack Kerouac, Mad Beat Hip and Gone (April 3-28). The season will close with Mary Chase’s Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy about a man with an invisible, six-foot tall rabit, Harvey (May 15-June 16), directed by Dave Steakley.

In addition, ZACH has announced two season extras. From January 9-March 10, Jaston Williams will star as Truman Capote in Jay Presson Allen’s Tru, and November 23-December 23, Dave Steakley will direct Joe Mantello’s adaptation of David Sedaris’ The Santaland Diaries.
