Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company has announced plans to present a series of workshops and special events to replace The Russians Are Coming!, the canceled Festival of Radical New Theatre From Moscow. Performances of The Russians Are Coming! were originally scheduled to run from October 25-November 9.

The new programming is meant to celebrate what Woolly views as most inspirational about its Russian colleagues: "the depth of their artistic process which often leads to radically inventive results." Programming will include development workshops and special events for the productions coming up later in the season, including Cherokee by Lisa D'Amour, Lights Rise on Grace by Chad Beckim, and Zombie: The American by company member Robert O'Hara.

The Festival of Radical New Theatre From Moscow was canceled last month because of funding freezes stemming from an unstable political climate in Russia. Woolly continues to pursue plans for a partnership with the Moscow artists in the future.
