WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Signature presents The Witches of Eastwick, featuring book and lyrics by John Dempsey, with music by Dana P. Rowe. The show is based on the novel by John Updike and the Warner Bros. Motion Picture. Eric Schaeffer directs.
In the tiny New England town of Eastwick, Rhode Island, three unhappy witches innocently plot and conjure for their perfect man over a heady brew of brownies and weak martinis. When their longings are made flesh in the arrival of one Darryl Van Horne, all hell breaks loose. Quite literally.
Performed in the Max Theatre.

The Witches of Eastwick, the long-aborning musical adaptation of John Updike's novel, is smart, sexy, and smashing, in no small part because the four Broadway veterans starring in the show's U.S. debut at Signature Theatre -- Marc Kudisch, Christiane Noll, Jacquelyn Piro Donovan, and Emily Skinner -- are also smart, sexy, and smashing. Fortunately, they are supported by a lively score, and a book that has moments of broad comedy along with a dark and edgy undercurrent.
It has been seven years since Signature's Eric Schaeffer directed the mildly successful London premiere of Witches, only to watch the show fade into obscurity. With substantial revisions here by Schaeffer (directing again)[...]
