WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Chita Rivera stars in The Visit, featuring music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Terrence McNally based on the play The Visit by Friedrich Dürrenmatt. Frank Galati directs, with choreography by Ann Reinking.
Claire Zachanassian was driven from her hometown in disgrace when she was 17, having been betrayed by her lover. Several decades and seven husbands later, Zachanassian has become the richest woman in the world, yet her hometown has fallen on hard times. When Zachanassian returns with an offer to save the town, salvation comes with an outrageous price tag.

Signature Theatre's re-worked production of the formerly troubled musical The Visit is sensational. True, this gothic tale of murder and vengeance mingled with a lyrical essay of love and loss -- adapted by Terrence McNally from Friedrich Durrenmatt's classic play -- might strike some as off-balance. But thanks to the pleasant score by John Kander and the late Fred Ebb, Frank Galati's vibrant staging (aided by Ann Reinking's choreography), and the performances of those grand Broadway stars, Chita Rivera and George Hearn, in the lead roles, the show is a must-see event.
