Synopsis

Film/television star, Tony Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Scott Bakula stars in the Tony Award-winning musical Shenandoah. He leads the cast in the role of Charlie Anderson, the family patriarch, who tries to keep the Civil War at bay and his family safe as the battle spreads and threatens their very existence. Tony nominated Broadway director/choreographer Jeff Calhoun directs.

Shenandoah, a powerful musical saga, which won multiple Tony Awards, is based on the movie of the same title that featured James Stewart, and ran for more than one-thousand performances in 1975 on Broadway. Book is by James Lee Barrett, Peter Udell and Philip Rose, with music by Gary Geld and lyrics by Peter Udell.

Charlie Anderson, a successful farmer in the Shenandoah Valley, has managed to keep his daughter and six sons out of the Civil War by refusing to get involved in the South's battle. Near the war's end, however, the family finds it more difficult to isolate themselves from the encroaching violence. When Yankee soldiers mistake the youngest son for a rebel soldier, the elder Anderson must finally confront the war he has struggled to avoid.

Brian Sutherland takes over the role of Charlie Anderson from Scott Bakula beginning May 2.
