WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
At its core Crimes of the Heart by Beth Henley is a play about bringing people together in a difficult time. This dark comedy tells the story of three Mississippi sisters reunited to deal with the criminal charges facing youngest sister Babe for allegedly shooting her husband in the gut because she "didn't like his stinking looks." In the process, the women come to terms with the pain of their past, making for intense drama wrapped in a Southern confection of comedy. Each of these characters is tragic on their own, but put them in one room and that's where the comedy comes from. At the heart of Crimes of the Heart are the powerful bonds of family. None of them are complete, they become complete by coming together.
