Kathy Bates, Lauren Kennedy, Richard Thomas, and Fred Willard will star in the Kennedy Center's world premiere adaptation, The Trumpet of the Swan: A Novel Symphony, based on the children's book by E.B. White, to run December 4-6 in the Eisenhower Theater. The production will be directed by Gary Griffin.

The show features a book by Pulitzer Prize winner Marsha Norman, and music by Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown, who will conduct a 35-piece orchestra. It tells the story of Louis (to be played by Chris Venditti), a trumpeter swan who is born without a voice. The cast will also feature Zayd Dohrn, Edward Gero, and Peggity Price.

The creative team features Daniel Conway (sets), Holly Hynes (costumes), and Beverly Emmons (lighting). Griffin's many directorial credits include The Color Purple, The Apple Tree, Passion, and Pacific Overtures.
