Frank Galati's Tony Award-winning adaptation of John Steinback's The Grapes of Wrath presents a stark, powerful portrait of hard times in the United States during the Great Depression as an American family struggles to maintain its dignity in the face of grinding poverty. Steinback's classic saga tracks the Joad family as it suffers hardship after hardship in the dust bowl of Oklahoma and in degrading fields and migrant labor camps in California, where they had hoped to find their "promised land."
