WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

What did an eminent museum curator, a Dominican Abbess, and George Bernard Shaw have to say to each other? Plenty! Hugh Whitemore's The Best of Friends gives us Shaw himself, largely in his own words, along with two extraordinary figures from the early 20th century. Sidney Cockerell was the influential curator of Cambridge's Fitzwilliam Gallery, and Dame Laurentia McLachlan was a cloistered Benedictine nun whose work on restoring Gregorian Chant to its intended purity was respected throughout the world.
