WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Collaborating for Jason+, a new multidisciplinary series, Kennedy Center Artistic Director for Jazz Jason Moran and celebrated choreographer Ronald K. Brown bring together their respective ensembles for a night of jazz and dance. In between inspiring jazz sets performed by The Bandwagon, the program features the D.C. premiere with live music of The Subtle One, a reflection on the presence of our ancestors. Three classic Brown works are performed to recorded music: Why You Follow, a rousing ensemble exploration of the rhythmic pace of Afro-Cuba; March, a duet that Brown choreographed in 1995; and Bellows, a solo based on the life of photographer Charles "Teenie" Harris.
