WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
next to normal tells the story of a mother struggling with bipolar disorder while showing how far two parents will go to keep themselves sane and their family's world intact. With eleven Tony nominations and three 2009 awards, including Best Original Score, next to normal also won the 2010 Pulitzer-Prize for Drama - only the eighth musical ever to win this award. As described by the Pulitzer Board, this emotional powerhouse, with provocative lyrics and a thrilling score, "expands the scope of subject matter for musicals."
