WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Spark! brings dance together with the other arts to celebrate collaboration, cross-pollination, and community. Shelley Siller will bring to the stage a new piece layered with multimedia and accompanied by the music of Muse and Apparat to explore the mechanics behind a broken relationship. Moveius will also revisit Kathleen Weitz's high energy Goldberg Variations—performed live by Erh-Jen Lee—and Olivia Sabee's Invisible Steps, exploring how dancers perceive and internalize their art. Parallel Octave, a Baltimore-based chorus, will provide live music to accompany Sabee's work, which is set to music by Paul Dukas with a backdrop of Enlightenment French texts. Plus Founding Director Diana Movius will bring back Praying for Rain, inspired by the 1930s Dust Bowl, farming and changing seasons, set to a new multimedia composition.
