Manicures and Monuments follows young Janann Vanschuyver who has to volunteer at the local nursing home as part of her manicurist training in Oklahoma. Janann immediately clashes with abrasive Lucinda Bailey, a retired army nurse who keeps everyone, including the overworked nursing staff, in line. Bailey refuses to believe Janann is content being "Queen of the Trailer Park," having too many kids too quickly, and working unchallenging minimum-wage jobs just to get by. Bailey wants Janann to set goals. Janann wants Bailey to back off. A prickly beginning moves into a prickly friendship that strengthens and rewards both women.

Manicures and Monuments looks candidly at the struggles of life inside a nursing home as well as the joys of friendships that can develop across generations. Deborah Kirby directs.
