Signature Theatre presents Elegies: A Song Cycle by William Finn and directed by Joe Calarco. William Finn, known for his clever lyrics and a musical style that mixes elements of pop, rock, R&B and jazz, has created a buoyant, uplifting evening of witty and ultimately touching songs - songs that are simply a brilliant songwriter's heartfelt response to the notable people in his life. Though no traditional storyline links these songs, they are united by the underlining idea of loss; in turn funny, tender, biting and quietly devastating, they form a unified tapestry.
