WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

On November 2nd, CENTERSTAGE will host an Election Night Defense of Marriage Bridal Line, a Queer Bridal Fashion Show featuring performance art pieces, stand-up comedy, and up-to-the-minute election coverage. Beginning at 8 pm and lasting until a President-Elect has been declared, this party promises eclectic entertainment as CENTERSTAGE tracks the coverage of this landmark election. Bridal fashions will be designed by CENTERSTAGE and other local artisans and modeled by volunteer couples. Guests will have the opportunity to visit the CENTERSTAGE "Bridal Shoppe" to practice their wedding vows and transform into a bride or groom in minutes with assistance from the company's designers. Guests not ready to join the bridal party can watch Keri Burneston and Adam Krandle--AKA Trixie Little and the Evil Tap-Dancing Hate Monkey--performing androgynous acrobatics, "balancing their desire for union with their compulsion to entertain." Also performing will be Kathleen Fontaine, a stand-up comic who can be heard weekly on Sirius satellite radio's OUTQ149, and Susan Mele, whose one woman shows, Roxi Star in 3D With Elvis and Just Say Blow Me, played to sold-out houses at Baltimore's Theatre Project. Throughout the evening, guests can gather round one of many TV's tuned to various news stations for Election Night coverage, or direct their attention to a giant projection screen. The event is free, but a $10 donation is suggested to benefit Equality Maryland, which advocates that civil marriage for same-sex couples is a matter of equal protection and equal rights under the law.
