Signature Theatre Announces Casting for West Side Story

The Jets and the Sharks are headed to Virginia for the holidays.

Arlington, Virginia's Signature Theatre has announced complete casting for its upcoming production of the classic Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, and Arthur Laurents musical West Side Story. The cast of 30 will be joined by a 17-piece orchestra in a run from December 8-January 24, 2016.

Austin Colby and MaryJoanna Grisso lead the company as star-crossed lovers Tony and Maria. They are joined by Natascia Diaz (Anita), Max Clayton (Riff), Sean Ewing (Bernardo), Bobby Smith (Doc), Russell Sunday (Officer Krupke), and John Leslie Wolfe (Lieutenant Schrank) in the supporting cast.

Rounding out the Jets are Kurt Boehm (Diesel), Jennifer Cordiner (Graziella), Ryan Fitzgerald (Action), Colleen Hayes (Velma), Jamie Howes (Minnie), Ryan Kanfer (A-Rab), Tony Niedenbach (Big Deal), Maria Rizzo (Anybodys), Joseph Tudor (Baby John), Shawna Walker (Pauline), J. Morgan White (Snowboy), and Cami Spring (Clarice). Their rival gang, the Sharks, will be made up of Jasmine Alexis (Teresita), Michael Graceffa (Indio), Mikaela Holmes (Rosalia), Ilda Mason (Francisca), Zachary Norton (Anxious), DJ Petrosino (Chino), Olivia Ashley Reed (Consuela), Eric Rivas (Luis), and Ryan Sellers (Pepe).

Signature Associate Artistic Director Matthew Gardiner will direct the production, featuring choreography by Parker Esse (based on original choreography by Jerome Robbins), musical direction by Jon Kalbfleisch, scenic design by Misha Kachman, costume design by Frank Labovitz, lighting design by Jason Lyons, sound design by Lane Elms, wig design by Anne Nesmith, and fight choreography by Casey Kaleba.
