At Signature Theatre‘s seventh annual Sondheim Award Gala, Broadway favorites Debra Monk (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), Brynn O’Malley (Honeymoon in Vegas), Claybourne Elder (Bonnie and Clyde), and Donna Migliaccio (Ragtime) gathered to honor Stephen Sondheim collaborator James Lapine (Sunday in the Park With George, Into the Woods, Passion). The gala benefit took place at the Embassy of Italy.

The Sondheim Award, established in 2009 in honor of America’s most influential musical theater writer and composer, benefits Signature’s artistic, education and community programs.

"James has been my good friend and collaborator over the course of thirty-two years, and it’s about time I thanked him ostentatiously," says Stephen Sondheim in a statement. "Signature Theatre has given me the opportunity, and I’m grabbing it."
