Olney Theatre Center announced that, at its annual meeting in June, Stephen Klein was elected to succeed Charles S. Mack as president. He will ascend to the position on August 1.

Starting out as an actor in New York City — in which he played, among other roles, Caiaphas in the original Broadway production of Jesus Christ Superstar — Klein eventually moved into arts administration, serving at various performing arts organizations in the U.S. including a stint at the Pittsburgh Public Theatre from 1994-2004, where he worked with August Wilson. He moved to Washington, D.C., in 2013 following eight years as president of the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts.

Also on August 1, current board members Robert E. Hebda and James Warring will join the executive committee of the board as vice presidents.

Margery Arnold, Steven J. Schupak, Andrea Urciolo, and Thomas Zutic were also approved for the Board in June.

Olney Theatre Center is a nonprofit Equity theater located in Montgomery County, Maryland.
