Ford's Theatre has announced that Craig Wallace will take on the role of Ebenezer Scrooge in the company’s holiday production of A Christmas Carol. Performances begin November 17 and play for a six-week engagement through December 31. Michael Baron will direct.

Adapted by director Michael Wilson (The Trip to Bountiful) and originally conceived by Michael Baron, Ford's Theatre's music-infused A Christmas Carol has been a holiday tradition for 35 years. Wallace takes over the role of Scrooge from Edward Gero, who first played the part in 2009. Gero leaves A Christmas Carol to star in a production of The Originalist at Asolo Repertory Theatre.

An actor and theater professor, Wallace was recently seen in Ford's production of Jessica Dickey's The Guard. He has also starred at Ford’s as Hoke Colburn in the 2014 production of Driving Miss Daisy, as Frederick Douglass in the 2012 world-premiere play Necessary Sacrifices, and in productions of Jitney and Our Town, among others. Additional recent credits include All the Way at Arena Stage as well as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead and Mary Stuart at Folger Shakespeare Theatre.
