Washington, D.C.’s John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts issued a star-studded partial cast list for the previously announced world premiere of Little Dancer, a new musical written by the Tony Award-winning writing duo of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime).

Joining the cast will be four-time Tony Award winner Boyd Gaines (An Enemy of the People) in the role of Edgar Degas, three-time Tony Award nominee Rebecca Luker (Mary Poppins) as Adult Marie von Goethem, and New York City Ballet principal dancer Tiler Peck as Young Marie von Goethem.

Directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (The Scottsboro Boys), the story is inspired by the young ballerina who posed for Edgar Degas and went on to become the most famous dancer in the world.

The creative team includes set design by Tony nominee Beowulf Boritt, costume design by six-time Tony winner William Ivey Long, lighting design by Tony winner Ken Billington, and sound design by Tony nominee Kai Harada, with music supervised by David Loud and conducted by James Moore.

Performances will take place in the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater in October 2014.
