Shakespeare Theatre Company has named Carson Elrod and Steven Epp as the joint winners of the organization’s Emery Battis Acting Award, recognizing them for their respective performances as Crispin in The Heir Apparent and Truffaldino in The Servant of Two Masters.

The award was presented on September 24 at the opening night dinner for STC’s first 2012-2013 production, The Government Inspector. The honor is named after the late Emery Battis, an STC affiliated artist, and comes with a $5,000 cash prize.

Elrod is currently performing on Broadway in Peter and the Starcatcher, with additional credits including Measure for Measure and Based on a Totally True Story. Epp is the former co-Artistic Director of Theatre de la Jeune Lune, and has numerous credits both in New York and regionally.
