Omar Edwards, James Konicek Set for Washington Premiere of Trey Ellis and Ricardo Khan’s Fly

Ford’s Theatre is to present the Washington premiere of Trey Ellis and Ricardo Khan’s Fly, September 21-October 21. Co-author Ricardo Khan will direct.

Fly, which is based on the experiences of the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II, is the centerpiece of this year’s programming for The Lincoln Legacy Project, an effort to create dialogue around the issues of tolerance, equality and acceptance.

The cast will feature Eric Berryman, Mark Hairston, Damian Thompson and Christopher Wilson as Tuskegee Airmen W.W., Oscar, J. Allen and Chet as well as Omar Edwards (the Tap Griot), Matt Bassett, James Konicek, Clark Young, and Kahlil X. Daniel.

The design team will include Beowulf Boritt (set design), Clint Allen (projection design), Toni-Leslie James (costume design), Rui Rita (lighting design), John Gromada (original music and sound design), and Hope Clarke (choreography).
