Blythe Coons, Rachael Jacobs, Julian Elijah Martinez Set for Chesapeake Shakespeare’s Summer Season

Chesapeake Shakespeare Company will present Romeo and Juliet and Pride and Prejudice as part of its summer season at the PFI Historic Park.

Romeo and Juliet will begin performances on June 8 under the direction of CSC Resident Artist Jenny Leopold. The production will offer a fresh-take on the tale featuring performance poetry. The company was guided by award-winning Slam poet Gayle Danley.

Pride and Prejudice will join the Chesapeake-Shakespeare-Company-in-the-Ruins repertory on Friday, June 22. Isabelle Anderson directs the stage production of Jane Austen’s novel, which is adapted by Christina Calvit.

The company will include Julian Elijah Martinez (Romeo/Mr. Wickham), Jose Guzman (Friar Lawrence/Mr. Collins), Molly Moores (Lady Capulet/Lady Catherine de Bourgh), and Jamie Jager (Paris/Bingley), Rachael Jacobs (Juliet/Lydia), Blythe Coons (Mercutio/Elizabeth) and Adam Sheaffer (Benvolio/Mr. Darcy).
