David and Joseph Zellnik's acclaimed musical Yank! The Musical, A Concert Reading will see its Washington, D.C. premiere courtesy of The Rainbow Theatre Project at 7:30pm on May 5 at Source. The concert reading will be directed by Rick Hammerly of Factory 449 and Patrick Pearson of Ford's Theatre. The evening will be preceded by the reading of Jon Heron's short play Me and My Gun, directed by Christopher Janson.

Yank! tells the story of a young man who discovers and must come to terms with his sexuality during his wartime journey as a photographer for Yank Magazine. The musical's off-Broadway premiere received seven Drama Desk Award nominations as well as several Outer Critics' Circle and Lucille Lortel Award nominations.

This concert staging will utilize a book and piano score that has been revised since the show's off-Broadway premiere at the York Theatre Company. A cast album of that production was released on the PS Classics label in January.

Casting for The Rainbow Theatre Project's production of Yank! will be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets to the production are free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
