Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company has announced productions for its 2012-2013 season, which will include world premieres from Mia Chung, Mike Daisey and Aaron Posner.

The season will open with Kristoffer Diaz’ The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity (September 3-30), directed by John Vreeke and featuring Jose Joaquin Perez, Michael Russotto, and Jamin Olivencia. This 2010 Pulitzer Prize finalist is set in the larger-than-life world of professional wrestling. The design team will feature Misha Kachman (set), Colin K. Bills (lighting), Misha Kachman and Ivania Stack (costumes), Chris Baine (sound), Jared Mezzocchi (video), and Joe Isenberg (fight choreography).

The world premiere of Mia Chung’s You for Me for You, presented in association with Ma-Yi Theater Company will follow, November 5-December 2. Yury Urnov will direct this work, about two North Korean sisters who make a bargain with a smuggler to flee to the United States. When one of the sisters is denied passage because she is too weak to make the treacherous transpacific crossing, the other sister makes a promise to race across time and space to save her.

As a special holiday treat, Woolly will present The Pajama Men: In the Middle of No One, created and performed by Shenoah Allen and Mark Chavez with music by Kevin Hume, December 11-January 6. This stand-up/sketch comedy/physical theatre extravaganza is described as a “silly comedy thriller about love, alien abduction, and the spirit of adventure.”

In the new year, Michael John Garcés will direct Danai Gurira’s The Convert (February 4-March 3), set amid the colonial scramble for Southern Africa in 1895. The play follows Jekesai, a young girl who escapes a forced marriage in her native village and lands in a Westernized household where Africans find themselves at odds over the arrival of Christianity.

Acclaimed solo performer Mike Daisey will premiere his latest work, American Utopias, directed by Jean-Michele Gregory, March 25-April 21. The piece considers how we create civic spaces for ourselves in which we act out our dreams of a better world.

Aaron Posner’s world premiere of Stupid Fucking Bird will close out the season, May 27-June 23. Howard Shalwitz will direct this contemporary and irreverent riff on Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull, featuring Kimberly Gilbert and Katie DeBuys. The design team will include Misha Kachman (set) and Colin K. Bills (lighting).
