George Mason University’s Theater of the First Amendment to Close

Theater of the First Amendment at George Mason University has announced that it will be closing after 22 seasons, according to Washington City Paper.

Theater of the First Amendment ‘s artistic director Rick Davis cited finances as a reason for the closure, and the small staff of the theater will now focus on George Mason’s theater department, where most are already employed.

The company’s final planned production, Bertolt Brecht’s The Life of Galileo, will be presented as planned but will be mounted under the school’s new play-producing program Theater at Mason.
